## Push payments

When you send funds directly to a debit card, we call this a push payment, or a push-to-card (P2C) transaction using the [Send payments](docId\:c6CjUrm0nl_nOY4oeJ8Gu) API with a value of "push" in the `paymentType`field. The issuing bank (of the registered debit card) receives the transaction. The issuing bank either authorizes or declines the transaction. If the bank authorizes the transaction, your payee will receive the funds. A push payment is also known as Original Credit Transaction (OCT).

## Pull payments

Are also known as an Account Funding Transaction (AFT). It lets you pull funds from a debit card for specific purposes, such as funding a digital wallet through the [Send payments](docId\:c6CjUrm0nl_nOY4oeJ8Gu) API with a value of "pull" in the `paymentType`field. Or, you can use it to initiate a person to person (P2P) transfer through the card network rails. AFTs are not available cross-border.
