Lending FAQ
Lending – Frequently Asked Questions
This section answers common questions about the Lending capabilities available through Cross River’s platform: origination, funding, seasoning, sale, servicing, and more.
Product overview
What does Cross River Lending support? The platform enables marketplace lenders (MPLs) to submit applications, fund loans across multiple rails, manage loan seasoning, sell or retain the loan, and exchange servicing data.
Loan process
What are the main stages in the loan process? The stages include:
- Application & pre-approval
- Loan creation and document upload
- Compliance review
- Funding via multiple rails (ACH, same-day ACH, RTP, FedNow, wire, card push)
- Seasoning, sale or retention
- Daily servicing data exchange
Can I fund a loan via different rails and fallback options? Yes, the funding engine supports multiple funding rails and you may configure primary and fallback rails as part of loan funding logic.
Loan seasoning, sale or retention
What is loan seasoning and why does it matter? After funding, every loan enters a seasoning period (typically configured by the program) before it is sold or retained. This enables various warehousing durations (e.g., 30 – 120 days) to fit with your capital needs.
What are my options for sale or retention of the loan? Post-seasoning you may choose to:
- Purchase the loan (or have an investor purchase it)
- Have Cross River retain the loan on its balance sheet
Servicing and data exchange
What servicing data must be exchanged and how often? MPLs submit daily servicing data, including principal/interest breakdowns, next payment date, and delinquency status via SFTP to Cross River.
